  • Best Ergo Doc Holders
This section contains the document holders that can be placed between the monitor and keyboard. I love these types of holders because they do not require the side to side movement of the eyes. Instead they utilize the stronger muscles groups that move vertically (extraocular muscles) and this natural movement helps to reduce the risk of eyestrain.

It also contains an industrial strength document holder that will come handy with large documents or heavy books.

  • Best Ergo Back Cushions
Back cushions can be very helpful under several conditions. They must fit the body and the chair concurrently so that the maximum benefit can be felt. Some cushions do not work with certain chairs or bodies. Some can be moved from chair to car to couch. Be sure to really test these products out before you decide whether they will work for you. This way you can avoid a closet full of back cushions that gather dust. With the right kind of research, it is possible to find something that works. Sometimes though, I must say that it is much more beneficial to your body and mind to consider the purchase of a new chair. If that is out of the question for now then take it one back cushion at a time.

    Best of the Best:

This section contains four wedge cushions and a simple roll that when placed properly helps to position your body in a more natural sitting posture. I am more interested in a cushion that can comfortably place you in a natural position rather than one that will make your body adapt to its design.

  • Best Portable Laptop Accessories
Laptops are convenient when you are on the road but they are not designed to keep your body in comfort! The keyboard and monitor are attached so these cannot be adjusted independently for individual needs. Fortunately there is a way to improve laptop comfort when you are on the road.

There are desktop stands and lap desks. Some of the products discussed function as both. All of the products in this section are portable and that is important if you regularly use your laptop out of the office.

The desktop stands are placed on your desk and they can be adjusted to raise the laptop screen to a comfortable height. Many of the lap desks will also function as a desktop stand depending on your environment.

In both of these products, the process of angling the keyboard portion of the laptop up also brings the screen closer. Some of these products have a built-in document holder that can be adjusted to eye level and security device. Most have some type of cooling system that can protect you from the heat when you are using it in your lap. It is healthy for the laptop too.

I highly suggest that you attach an external keyboard and mouse when the environment allows. If you are in the airport that is not possible, but when you are in the office it is much easier. Always pack an external mouse when you travel and if you can fit in an ergonomic keyboard, do it! This will add to your comfort immensely!

Due to the nature of laptops often being used in environments that may not support the body, I highly recommend frequent resting. Anytime you feel fatigued or discomfort put your laptop aside and rest. Add some simple stretches and several deep breaths to refresh your body. For back support choose an ergonomic chair instead of your kitchen chair, couch, or bed whenever possible.

This section includes products that have innovative designs and/or can be used as a desktop stand and a lap desk that can be stored in your laptop case.

  • Best Ergonomic Headsets
If you are one who is constantly cradling the phone in your neck while attempting to multi-task with good results it is time to consider how a headset will help you maintain the natural curve in your neck, increase your comfort and productivity.

Cradling the phone causes your neck muscles to be stretched and pulled the opposite direction! If this is done for extended periods muscles may become chronically tense and this will create discomfort and limit range of movement.

Whether you are on the go or in the office using a headset will allow for multi-tasking with increased efficiency and relaxed neck and shoulders.

Always check headset compatibility with your phone before you purchase.

  • Best Ergonomic Footrests
A large portion of the population experiences blood clots, varicose veins and pressure on the Achilles tendon due to many hours of inactive sitting that can cause reduced circulation. A footrest will help support the legs and reduce pressure on the lower back when the feet do not rest comfortably on the floor.

This section covers footrests with massaging rollerballs, rocking motion bases, and even an antimicrobial footrest!

  • Best Ergonomic Keyboards
An ergonomic keyboard is designed for the user's hands to be more naturally spaced rather than forced together in front of them as they are when using a traditional keyboard. The positioning of the keyboard of the keyboard to fit the body is important in order to eliminate discomfort caused by awkward postures.

Some of the ergonomically designed keyboards are split adjustable and some are simply split. Take a look at the features of each to see what will work better for your body.

The Best of the Best section lists my favorite split, adjustable keyboards.

  • Best Ergonomic Mice
Traditional mouse designs cause a twisting of your forearm to place the palm of your hand in a horizontal position over the mouse. Combine this with repetitive clicking of your index finger and discomfort may set in.

The idea is to place the hand in a relaxed, neutral position so that the muscles and tendons of the hand can work in their comfort zone.

The benefits of any ergonomic mouse are increased when using a flat, gel mouse pad. Most of the roller bar technologies you will see have a built-in wrist pad.

The Best of the Best section begins with the newer “rolling bar” alternative mouse concepts and includes a mouse with several sizes for lefties and righties!

  • Best Ergonomic Tables and Desks
Welcome to the age of adjustable ergonomic tables (or desks!) that allow you the freedom of movement. Research shows that changing positions throughout the day improves circulation and energy levels while decreasing discomfort and increasing productivity.

Ergonomic tables come in all types, shapes, heights and adjustability features. All the tables listed here are manufactured with the highest of quality. Some adjust with electric motors, some with hand cranks and others with pins. Your work environment, work style, and body type will determine what table is best for you.

To determine which table is best for your body measure your “standing elbow height”… the distance from your elbow to the floor to choose the table with a table with the correct range for you. Taller workers will require a higher range and those smaller in stature require a lower range. (You know who you are!) Then measure your sitting elbow height to determine if the adjustment range will work when you are sitting too!

  • Best Keyboard Arms and Trays
There are keyboard arms and trays that can be adjusted for sitting and standing height or just seated height.

Most of the articulating arms work with trays discussed here are combo units (manufacturers also refer to these as “adjustable arms” and “platforms”). The arms adjust with spring-assisted adjustment mechanisms instead of knobs that can bump your knees. Sometimes there is a choice of arm track length and what you order depends on the depth of the desk on which it will be installed. All of the arms have positive/negative tilt mechanism. Negative tilt is highly recommended by ergonomists.

A word about the sit stand concept…

Just the simple movement towards standing throughout the day increases respiration and energizes the body. Standing at intervals throughout the day creates opportunities to stretch and help maintain the back’s natural curvature. Given the opportunity, one will change from sitting to standing posture several times a day.

It is easier to stretch and move in a standing posture, an important part of a healthy body and overall comfort. Plus, reaction alertness is improved and this can lead to increased productivity.

The Best of the Best section features sit-stand arms and keyboard trays systems as well as advanced systems for seated positions.
